Gratitude + Welcoming Winter.
WELCOMING WINTER TIME.
TIS THE SEASON OF SNUGGLING UP UNDER THE SOFTEST BLANKETS, WARM DRINKS, FIRESIDE CHATS, SWEET TREATS, AND CELEBRATIONS.
“Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good.” - Maya Angelou
HERES HOW TO HELP YOUR SELF AND YOUR SKIN THROUGH THE SEASON.
SUNLIGHT. We tend to spend more time indoors and cozied up. Prioritizing daily walks and fresh air does wonders for circulation and lymphatic movement - keeping us healthy and vibrant. A great way to combat seasonal depression.
ADDING IN :
-Omega-3 via Cod Liver Oil ( these are my favorite)
-A humidifier for your home - your heat kicking on is what is drying out your skin!
-Adding an oil to your skin routine - Living Libations is still a tried and true favorite - available at The Well. Purchase a gift card.
-LED light therapy - travel size or full face mask

This will be our first holiday season with Indy! Nick transformed our home to the classic monster house for Halloween which all the kids (and adults) in the neighborhood love. My favorite time of year is Christmas but nothing tops the Thanksgiving food. This time of year can sometimes feel draining both emotionally and financially. Here are some ways I plan to approach the season.
1. Limiting gifts + buying local. We’re requesting our family to limit gifts for Indy and focusing less on toys and more on books, crafts, or experiences. Purchasing from local places feels like gifting money directly to your neighbors. Favorites of mine are Easton’s Belleville Market and Belvidere’s FOUND and Belvidere Books.
2. Staying on top of my facial + massage services. I need this time to decompress so I can show up fully for my clients and family. If my body and soul are not fueled and de-stressed I am not able to be present, clear, and embodied.
3. Enjoying all the treats. I prefer the add in method versus cutting things out. If I know I’m going to be consuming more sugars I make sure to add in more hearty and healthy meals. Cooking with bone broth whenever possible, protein rich and filling meals - lots of chili, eggs, sweet potato, and stir fry’s. Looking to up my cooking game this year.
4. Gratitude. I read a Bible passage this morning and it made me think of how gratitude in every moment brings a sort of grief along with it. That to love your life is to also lose every beautiful moment that is there. This feeling has amplified 100 fold having a daughter. If I were to give in to complaints, to bitterness, to judgments, and worry, I would not be able to witness such sweet unfolding. We had a milestone day the other day, I wrote about it on my substack*, and it is a constant reminder that I have and live a life I deeply love. A reminder I will take through this season.
“The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” John 12:25
Thank you all for being a small part of it.
Hope everyone has a beautiful winter season!
